Fire investigators say an accidental electrical fire at a home on the east side of town on Monday morning caused the death of 38 parakeets. San Antonio firefighters responded around 11 a.m. to the reported house fire on Center Street near North New Braunfels Avenue. The fire heavily damaged the back of the home and the kitchen area. Nobody was home at the time, but firefighters found 38 parakeets dead inside a cage.
