A Texas judge now sits on the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in New Orleans. The U.S. Senate confirmed Judge Irma Carrillo Ramirez's appointment to the court on Monday. President Biden nominated Ramirez to the court in April. Texas Republican Sens. John Cornyn and Ted Cruz, who are members of the Senate Judiciary Committee, both supported her nomination. Ramirez has been a U.S. magistrate judge in the Northern District of Texas for more than 20-years.
