Six people are dead and two officers are injured after a shooting spree in Texas. Authorities say the suspect killed four people in Austin on Tuesday and injured two officers, and that the same gunman is also believed responsible for two deaths near San Antonio. Austin Police say the suspect killed two people at around noon while stealing a car, and then later killed two more people during a home burglary. Police found the suspect in the backyard and arrested him after a pursuit. He's also being connected to two deaths at a home near San Antonio. Police believe those victims were killed before the rampage started in Austin.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott says the man accused of six murders across two cities must "never see the light of day again."

Austin Police identified the suspect as Shane James, 34. Travis County Jail records show a man with the same name was booked into the jail at 1:30 a.m. Wednesday and charged with capital murder of multiple people.
