Would-Be Robber Killed In Shootout With Security Guards At HEB On East Side

Two security guards are wounded and a would-be armed robber is dead after a shootout at an East Side HEB on Monday afternoon. Police say a man in his 40s tried to rob the store on North New Braunfels Avenue near East Houston Street around 2 p.m. When he ran away, two security guards chased him into the parking lot. A gun battle resulted in which both guards were wounded and the suspect was killed. The store closed after the shooting, but reopened today.
