The Electric Reliability Council of Texas says it expects to be ready for extreme winter weather this year. ERCOT had requested to increase its operating reserves in October, but has since canceled the request. ERCOT's President and CEO Pablo Vegas says they made the request to be on the safe side, but they expect to have enough energy resources to meet demand. The council says it has implemented reforms and grid improvements since the 2021 ice storm, including weatherization of electric generation units and transmission facilities.
