San Antonio Zoo officials says their baby okapi now has a name and is exploring his habitat. The calf was born on September 2nd to first-time parents Epulu and Ludimi. A generous donor at the Zoobilation Ball fundraiser gave the calf the name of Gates. Gates is getting to know his way around the okapi habitat in the zoo's Africa Live section. Zoo officials say this exciting milestone marks a significant moment for both Gates and the conservation efforts for this endangered species.
