The Texas Rangers are the World Series champions for the first time in franchise history. Texas defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 5-0 in Game Five of the Fall Classic in Phoenix. Mitch Garver delivered the go-ahead run in the seventh inning after the Rangers were no-hit through the first six innings. Marcus Semien helped break the game open with a two-run homer in the ninth. Corey Seager finished with two hits in the win and was named the World Series MVP. Arizona starter Zac Gallen was charged the loss after allowing one run through six-and-a-third innings. The D-Backs went oh-for-9 with runners in scoring position and managed just five hits in the loss.
