A California-based driverless vehicle company planning to launch operations in Austin is hitting a roadblock in its home state. Last Tuesday, the California Department of Motor Vehicles revoked the self-driving permit for the company known as Cruise. Officials say the vehicles pose an unreasonable risk to public safety. Cruise vehicles were already on Austin streets in a testing phase, triggering complaints about near misses or blocked traffic. On Thursday, Cruise announced on social media that it's suspending its driverless cars nationwide.
