Gov. Greg Abbott and the Texas House are still at odds over school vouchers as the third special legislative session nears an end. The voucher program would allow families to use taxpayer dollars to send their kids to private schools and pay for other educational costs. The program is Abbott's top priority, and he's spent months trying to whip up support for it in the legislature. But a coalition of Democrats and rural Republicans in the House are blocking the idea. The House has come up with a compromise proposal that Abbott calls insufficient.
