House Republicans are scheduled to vote on a new speaker today. The closed-door vote will come after Majority Leader Steve Scalise of Louisiana and Judiciary Committee Jim Jordan of Ohio auditioned for the job on Tuesday. Both men made their pitches to GOP House members and took questions during a closed door forum. Afterward, a number of lawmakers said they aren't sure either Scalise or Jordan can come up with the 217 votes needed to be elected Speaker. The House removed former Speaker Kevin McCarthy of California in a historic vote last week.
