Sentencing is in January for a man who pleaded guilty for his involvement in a migrant smuggling incident that killed 53 people last year. The Department of Justice says 29-year-old Christian Martinez of Palestine, Texas, pleaded guilty on Wednesday to several charges of conspiracy and transportation of illegal immigrants resulting in death or serious bodily injury. Five co-defendants are also charged with the Quintana Road incident, which is San Antonio's largest mass casualty event since the Alamo. Martinez faces up to life in prison.
