Closing arguments begin this morning in the impeachment trial of Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton in Austin. On Thursday, the defense rested its cases after calling four witnesses. Paxton has pleaded not guilty to the 16 charges against him, involving misuse of powers to help his political donor Nate Paul, an Austin real estate investor being investigated by the federal government. The Republican-led state Senate will decide whether Paxton will stay in office. The senators will begin their deliberations after the closing arguments.
