The agency that operates the state's power grid says the power capacity is expected to be able to handle record demand in the forecast. The Electric Reliability Council of Texas issued a weather watch on Friday that covers Sunday through Tuesday. The Texas power grid is expected to experience record-breaking energy demand this week as dangerous heat prompts homes and businesses to crank up the air conditioning. ERCOT predicts energy demand is anticipated to top 84-thousand megawatts several times.
