Former U.S. Rep. Mayra Flores is accepting the invitation of national Republicans to run again for her former seat. Flores announced Tuesday that she will challenge Democratic Rep. Vicente Gonzalez of McAllen in the only Texas congressional district the National Republican Congressional Committee is aiming to flip in the 2024 election. Flores flipped the 34th Congressional District seat in a special election in June 2022, but redistricting made the seat more Democrat-friendly and enabled Gonzalez to win in November.
