The Astros failed to put an end to their losing skid. Houston suffered its fifth straight loss with an 11-1 letdown to the New York Mets at Minute Maid Park. Yainer Diaz scored Houston's lone run with his sixth home run of the year on a solo shot in the seventh inning. Starting pitcher Hunter Brown was charged the loss after striking out seven and allowing six earned runs through five-and-two-thirds innings. The Astros fell to 39-and-34. They will send left-hander Framber Valdez to the hill against New York tonight.
