San Antonio will again celebrate the Fourth of July this year with a festival and fireworks at Woodlawn Lake Park. This year's Official City of San Antonio H-E-B Fourth of July Celebration sponsored by H-E-B and Thomas J. Henry will be held from 11 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 4th. The free event will feature a carnival, food trucks, children's activities, and live music, including the USAF Band of the West. At 9 p.m., the even closes out with a fireworks display over Woodlawn Lake.
Kick off the day with FREE fitness activities:
• 9 AM – 10 AM: Water Aerobics Class presented by the San Antonio Parks & Recreation Department at the Woodlawn Lake Park Public Pool
*the pool will reopen for public swimming 1 PM – 8 PM
• 10 AM – 12 PM: Zumba Class presented by San Antonio Parks & Recreation in the Woodlawn Lake Gym
Activities are open to the public, no pre-registration required, first come first serve. Children 10 years old and younger must be always accompanied by an adult.
Per tradition, beginning at 11 AM through 9:30 PM there will be July Fourth fare, including local food trucks and vendors serving up turkey legs, BBQ, burgers, hot-dogs, tacos, gorditas, aguas frescas, raspas, corn, magonadas, cold drinks galore, AND CHICKEN ON A STICK! Carnival games will also be available for the duration of the event with live performances from the United States Air Force Band of the West featuring Top Flight and Sonora Hechicera, an all-female cumbia band comprised of community-minded musicians striving to keep the sounds they grew up with in the hearts and ears of the next generation.
The Thomas J. Henry Wi-Fi Lounge will be open for the duration of the event offering free wi-fi access for Fourth of July guests. Share photos and videos of your Fourth of July celebrations with friends and family, plus stay connected to experience the H-E-B Fireworks Extravaganza together!
There will also be children’s activities set up near the playground under the pavilion with programming provided by the San Antonio Public Library and the San Antonio Parks Foundation from 11 AM – 2 PM.
From noon to 5 PM, attendees will find wrestling matches hosted by Texas Wrestling & Entertainment that are free to attend in the park, along with free lotería games in the H-E-B Cool Zones. Prizes for lotería winners include SA Zoo admission tickets, SeaWorld admission tickets, and much more!
Last but certainly not least, the H-E-B Fireworks Extravaganza kicks off promptly at 9 PM and lasts 12 minutes.
A few tips for patrons who are ready to celebrate:
- No overnight camping allowed at Woodlawn Lake Park before, during, or after July 4
- Woodlawn Lake Park is an alcohol-free environment
- Please respect the neighborhood and remember to leave no trace! Bring trash bags and/or find appropriate containers to dispose of trash and recyclables.
- Please do not block driveways and be mindful of “No Parking” signage. Ticketing and towing will be enforced.
- What to bring: lawn chairs and blankets for seating, reusable water bottles, sunscreen, umbrellas, and hats for sun protection.
