The Rangers failed to knock off the team with the best record in baseball. Texas lost to the Tampa Bay Rays 7-3 in their series finale at Tropicana Field. Robbie Grossman hit his seventh home run of the season in the losing effort. Starting pitcher Martin Perez was charged the loss after allowing seven earned runs through three-and-a-third frames. The Rangers remain atop the AL West at 41-and-23. They will return home to host the Los Angeles Angels tonight with right-hander Dane Dunning taking the mound.
