General Motors says it's planning a 500-million-dollar upgrade for its assembly plant in Arlington. The automotive giant announced Thursday that the new technology will enable the plant to turn out future versions of Chevrolet, GMC, and full-sized Cadillac SUVs. GM announced in 2021 it would manufacture only electric vehicles by 2035, but the Arlington plant only produces vehicles powered by internal combustion engines. GM is Tarrant County's largest industrial taxpayer one of its largest employers.
