A bill awaiting Governor Abbott's signature would provide new funding for the Alamodome and the Henry B. Gonzalez Convention Center. SB 2220 would give San Antonio the authority to receive hotel tax revenue for up to 30-years for improvements and renovations to the two facilities. The bill would add an estimated $222 million in revenue for upgrades to help attract big events to the venues. City officials say the convention center has lost events because of insufficient exhibit hall space and meeting rooms.
