The Senate Committee on Education has advanced a House bill after amending it to include education savings accounts. The accounts would enable parents to use public money to pay for their kids' private education. The House opposes the accounts and is expected to reject the Senate's changes. Gov. Greg Abbott has said he'll call a special session to deliver a bill make most of the state's five-million-plus schoolchildren eligible for education savings accounts.
