The Texas Senate is giving its approval to a House bill that would allocate an additional $430 million to the state's 50 community colleges. On Friday, senators unanimously approved House Bill 8, which would award funds to colleges based on several criteria. The bill would also create a program to enroll economically disadvantaged high-schoolers in dual credit courses at no cost. Once the House signs off on the Senate's amendments to the bill, it can be sent to Gov. Greg Abbott for his signature.
