U.S. Senator John Cornyn says former President Donald Trump can't win the 2024 general election. The Texas Republican told reporters on Thursday that he'll be looking for alternatives as the GOP chooses a challenger to Democrat Joe Biden next year. Cornyn said, "I think President Trump's time has passed him by." Trump is the early frontrunner in the race for the Republican presidential nomination. Cornyn says enthusiastic base support will help Trump win a GOP primary, but in the general election he'd need to expand his appeal.
