The Army's Fort Hood in Texas is now officially Fort Cavazos. The new name is part of a move by the Defense Department to eliminate links to the Confederacy. The post had formerly been named for General John Bell Hood. The new honoree, Richard Edward Cavazos, was a Texas-born veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and was the first Hispanic soldier to reach the rank of four-star general. He died in San Antonio in 2017. All four of his kids were in the stands for Tuesday's ceremony.
