Rangers Defeat Mariners In Series Opener

The Rangers notched their third straight win. Texas defeated the Mariners 2-1 in the series opener in Seattle. Rangers starter Jon Gray improved to 2-and-1 after allowing one earned run and striking out eight through seven frames. Will Smith recorded his fifth save of the season. Jonah Heim and Josh Jung brought home runs to help Texas improve to 21-and-13. The Rangers will send southpaw Andrew Heaney to the mound for the start against Seattle tonight.
