Gov. Greg Abbott is sending an elite unit of the National Guard to the border to deal with an expected spike in illegal immigration. Abbott announced on Monday that the Texas Tactical Border Force will deploy to El Paso and other areas along the Rio Grande. The Trump-era immigration policy known as Title 42 is set to end on Thursday. National Guard soldiers and state troopers are in the area as part of Abbott's Operation Lone Star. Abbott says they've laid "miles of concertina wire" along open spaces on the Texas side of the border.
