A new economic incentive plan is expected to receive final approval in the Texas House today following its preliminary approval on Thursday. The Texas Jobs and Security Act is intended to attract large companies to move to the state or expand their current presence here. It replaces the former tax-discount program known as Chapter 313, which the legislature allowed to expire in December. The new proposal is less friendly to renewable energy projects. After its expected passage in the House, the bill will move on to the Senate.
