Defense attorneys for the suspected Santa Fe High School shooter are calling for the recusal or disqualification of the judge in the case. In a Thursday hearing, the defense said Judge Jeth Jones should recuse himself for last month's order for a competency evaluation for the suspect, Dimitrios Pagourtzis. At the time of his order, Jones had reportedly asked North Texas State Hospital for the evaluation. Alternatively, the defense says Jones should be disqualified for a conflict of interest, since a former law firm partner of Jones met with Pagourtzis shortly after the 2018 shooting to discuss the possibility of representing him.
