U.S. Senator Ted Cruz's campaign says the Texas Republican raised $1.5 million in the first quarter of this year. Saturday was the deadline for members of the House and Senate to report their first-quarter campaign finances to the Federal Election Commission. Cruz is running for a third term in 2024 after defeating Beto O'Rourke in 2018. U.S. Rep. Colin Allred of Dallas is the most commonly mentioned potential Democratic challenger for Cruz, but Allred hasn't stated that he's considering a run.
