Abbott Talks Border Security During Meeting With Border Sheriffs

Governor Abbott says measures he supports will help increase border security and punish those who help human traffickers. Governor Abbott was in McAllen yesterday to meet with border sheriffs during their spring meeting. The governor talked about a new law that would impose a mandatory minimum sentence of ten years in prison for anyone who assists Mexican cartels with human trafficking. He also hopes that a new $350 million fund to help rural sheriffs and additional funding for Operation Lone Star will be approved by state lawmakers.
