The full Texas Senate is expected to debate a proposed budget next week that the Senate Finance Committee approved on Wednesday. The $308 billion spending plan for the next two-years includes billions for property tax cuts, community colleges, school safety, border security, and pay raises for teachers and state employees. It also funds water projects and measures to ensure the stability of the electric grid. Neither the Senate nor House budget proposals spends the state's entire $33 billion surplus.
