There is bipartisan support for a bill in the state legislature that would allow Texas to import certain low-priced drugs from Canada. The bill's author, State Representative James Talarico, says Texans pay twice as much as Canadians for prescription drugs. His bill would change that. The bulk-importation program would result in savings of 60-to-70-percent for consumers and millions of dollars for state agencies on prescription drug costs.
