The Astros avoided the series sweep at home. Houston defeated the visiting Detroit Tigers 8-2 at Minute Maid Park. Chas McCormick, Jeremy Pena and Kyle Tucker each homered and drove-in a pair of runs in the win. Tucker now has three home runs through seven games. Cristian Javier earned the win on the mound after allowing one earned run and striking out five through six innings. The Astros improved to 3-and-4. They will open the next series on the road against the Minnesota Twins tomorrow. The first game of the series that was scheduled for today has already been postponed.
