Two main proposals to expand legalized gambling in Texas have the go-ahead from a House committee. If voters approve, House Bill 1942 would legalize online sports betting, such as on cellphones. House Bill 2843 would allow casino gambling in Texas, and would include sports wagering. The House State Affairs Committee approved the bills on Monday afternoon. If the full House passes the bills, they still face an uphill battle in the Senate, where they're up against the opposition of Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick.
