A bill to repeal the state sales tax on menstrual products and baby supplies is on its way to the Senate. House members passed House Bill 300 on Wednesday by a vote of 145-2. Filed by Rep. Donna Howard, an Austin Democrat, the bill removes sales tax on diapers, baby wipes and bottles, menstrual supplies, maternity clothing, and products for pumping breast milk. An amendment also makes adult diapers tax-exempt. The Legislative Budget Board says the measure would cost the state about $194 million in two years.
