U.S. military forces hit back with air strikes in eastern Syria after one American contractor was killed and another was injured by a drone strike. Defense Secretary Austin confirmed President Biden did direct air strikes in retaliation against Iranian-linked targets. The Pentagon announced on Thursday that a suicide drone hit a Coalition base in northeast Syria. Five U.S. service members were injured in the drone strike. Two were treated at the base, while three others and the wounded contractor were evacuated to Coalition medical facilities in Iraq. Elite American special forces have been in Syria for some time to carry out anti-ISIS missions.
