A toddler is dead following a police chase involving her father near Houston. The Harris County Sheriff's Office says the suspect removed the two-year-old from her daycare this morning then took her to her mother's work, where he allegedly threatened to harm the child if the mother didn't give him her cell phone. Authorities said the mother tried to rescue her daughter after giving the suspect the phone, but he hit her in the face multiple times then fled with the child. The suspect's vehicle was later located by deputies, leading to a pursuit that ended with the suspect in custody and his daughter critically injured. She was taken to the hospital where she later died. Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez said the child sustained trauma to her head and body, and was not in a car seat during the chase.
