'World's Loneliest Orca' Dies At Marineland Park

'The World's Loneliest Orca' is dead after years of isolated containment at Marineland Theme Park. Kiska the orca whale was captured in 1979 at the age of three and was sold to Marineland a few years later. In her time there she gave birth to five calves, all of which tragically died at young ages. Kiska was kept alone in a cement tank since 2011, which studies have shown is considered torture to animals like whales and dolphins. A video of Kiska repeatedly bashing her head into the walls of her enclosure went viral in 2021 with many calling for Marineland to be shut down. The Ontario based park released a statement on Friday saying they "will mourn her loss."
