Rice defeated UTSA 73-72 in the first round of the Conference USA Championship. UTSA was led by Japhet Medor with 20 points. DJ Richards added 14 points and Jacob Germany had 11 to give the Roadrunners three players in double figures. Rice was led by Quincy Olivari with 18 points.
UTSA goes to 10 and 22 on the season with the loss. The Owls, who are now 18 and 14 on the season, will look to upset UAB in the quarterfinals tonight.
