The state of Texas has executed a man for killing his estranged wife and six-year-old stepdaughter. Gary Green was sentenced to death for murdering Lovetta Armstead and Jazzmen Montgomery at their home in Dallas in 2009. Green's attorneys appealed the ruling, stating that their 51-year-old client's intellectual disability and history of mental illness should disqualify him from execution. The appeal was denied. Green is the fourth inmate executed in Texas so far this year.
