The Spurs have announced that for the rest of the season, they will be sporting a new jersey patch to honor the life and legacy of former owner and San Antonio legend Red McCombs.

"It is wonderful to honor Red's life and legacy by adding a reminder of his immense impact to our uniforms for the remainder of our 50th Anniversary year," said R.C. Buford.

McCombs, the iconic San Antonio billionaire who created an auto dealership, sports and media empire, passed away last month. He was 95 years old.

McCombs, who is credited with bring the Spurs to San Antonio, was the founder of the Red McCombs Automotive Group in San Antonio. He and Lowery Mays co-founded Clear Channel Communications, the company that owned WOAI and later became iHeartMedia. He was also a former chairman of Constellis Group, a former owner of the San Antonio Spurs, San Antonio Force, Denver Nuggets, the Minnesota Vikings, and the namesake of the McCombs School of Business at the University of Texas at Austin.
