An 11-year-old student has died after being hit by a car in the parking lot at Goodnight Middle School in San Marcos.
In a letter sent to families, Superintendent Michael Cardona said the school resource officer and school staff responded quickly and placed the campus on emergency hold.
"The loss of a student is devastating and we are all grieving together. I wish I had the right words to say, but I do not," Cardona said. "We appreciate your continued prayers and support for the family and the San Marcos CISD community impacted by this tragic incident."
The San Marcos Police Department is investigating, but no charges are expected.
