Gov. Greg Abbott's proposed two-year budget emphasizes school safety, property tax cuts, and border security. Abbott distributed the budget proposal on Thursday. It includes at least $750 million for school safety measures such as security and mental health services, and $15 billion to lower Texans' property taxes. Republicans in both chambers support property tax cuts, but are discussing the best way to make them happen. Abbott's proposed budget also includes full funding for his border security operation.
