The Texas Department of Public Safety is dropping its proposal for a billion-dollar active-shooter training facility. DPS Director Steve McCraw says the department is instead asking the state for about 382-million-dollars to update and renovate its current training campus outside Waco. The abandoned proposal involved a six-year plan to turn the 200-acre DPS Tactical Training Center complex in Williamson County into a Texas law enforcement academy for use by agencies statewide.
