A state senator from San Antonio is proposing bills to make it easier for families of the Uvalde school shooting to sue the state and the police. State Sen. Roland Gutierrez and other Senate Democrats are introducing new legislation to enhance police accountability. Gutierrez announced at a press conference on Tuesday that one of the bills would eliminate qualified immunity for police officers. Another would empower families of the shooting victims to sue the state and its agencies for the bungled police response.
