The Texas House and Senate are mostly in agreement over the state's budget priorities for the next two-years. The two chambers released their preliminary budgets on Wednesday, detailing a $289 billion spending plan that focuses on border security, property tax relief, and employee raises. More debate lies ahead over how to spend a $33 billion budget surplus from the previous two-years. Gov. Greg Abbott and Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick want to use it to provide property tax relief, while some lawmakers prefer infrastructure projects.
