San Antonio and Bexar County officials will operate seven warming centers where people and pets can escape the freezing temps in the forecast. The shelters will open at 3 p.m. Thursday at Normoyle Community Center, Garza Community Center, South Side Lions Senior Center, and Emergency Services Districts 3 and 7, all in San Antonio. Shelters will also open at Emergency Services District 5 in Somerset, and at Christ the King Lutheran Church in Universal City. VIA will provide free bus rides to and from warming centers.
