A local nonprofit is getting ready for a surge of migrants from the border as Title 42 makes its way through the courts. Corazon Ministries offers a two-day respite center for migrants who make it to downtown San Antonio. The nonprofit provides meals, showers, and toiletries to asylum seekers. President Donald Trump put Title 42 in effect in order to deport migrants during the pandemic as a health measure. It was set to end on Wednesday, but the U.S. Supreme Court put a temporary hold in effect on Monday afternoon.
