Jacob Gonzales from Harlan High School is the Jon Wayne Player of the Year for 2022. He was announced as the recipient of the award this week during a ceremony at the Harlan High School gymnasium. During the season, Gonzales rushed for 1797 yards and 25 touchdowns. He was 4 out of 5 passing for 39 yards and a touchdown. In addition, he had 25 passing receptions for 466 yards and 7 touchdowns. He also ran 13 punt returns and 11 kickoff returns.
Jon Wayne Service Company recognized 14 High School Players of the Week in the San Antonio area during the 2022 season. Each chosen for their exceptional skills. Then they asked the community to vote for which POTW should become the Jon Wayne Player of the Year. Jacob Gonzales was selected as this year's recipient.
