Kirk Watson is preparing to become Austin's next mayor. He narrowly defeated Celia Israel in yesterday's runoff election. Neither candidate received 50% of the vote in November's election which led to yesterday's special election. Watson won by less than a-thousand votes.
In Austin city council races, Jose Velasquez defeated Daniela Silva was chosen to represent District-3. In District-5, Ryan Alter topped Stephanie Bazan while Zohaib Qadri snagged a win in District-9. The runoff election was held after nobody secured the win in last month's election.
