University of Texas men’s basketball coach Chris Beard has been suspended without pay after he was arrested early today on assault allegations after an incident at a home.
Beard posted a $10,000 bond and was released from the Travis County jail.
The university released the following statement, "The University takes matters of interpersonal violence involving members of its community seriously. Given the information available, The University has suspended Chris Beard from his position as head coach of Men’s Basketball and will withhold his pay until further notice."
Associate head coach Rodney Terry will be the acting head coach for Texas’ game against Rice tonight.
